Quinta da Casa Amarela History
The Quinta da Casa Amarela estate is situated on the left bank of the River Douro, in the Cambres valley,, in the spot classified by UNESCO as World Heritage, half the way between the cities of Régua and Lamego, in the heart of the most ancient enclosed region – the River Douro.
It has belonged to the same family since 1885. The dwelling house was rebuilt and extended in the first quarter of the twentieth century and its yellow colour lends its name to the estate.
It is a family business that carries on centennial traditions in the region in what concerns the art of excellent production of Port Wine and wines marked as originating from Douro.
Activity at the Quinta is built around four fundamental pillars:
Sustainable Viticulture
The development of a sustainable wine growing in a unique terroir that respects and protects the environment supported by an integrated production system;
Wine Tourism
The wine tourism activity envisaging a warm and authentic welcoming, comprising creative, innovating, diversified offers such as visits to the farm, different types of wine tasting, regional meals, as well as recreational and pedagogical experiences related to wine production as a whole, as the the “Wine Game”, “Live the Vineyards” and the “Wine School” that lead the tourist in the discovering and feeling of the wine culture.
Wine Production
The wine making obeys to a careful production system where quality is the main concern.
In the winemaking we use the traditional process of grapes foot treading in granite tanks that have already been equipped with a temperature control system used during brew.
The wines are available to consumers both in the Portuguese and the international markets and its quality has been awarded in several national and international contests.
Tourism in Rural Space
Tourism in the Rural Area – on August 4, 2020, Quinta da Casa Amarela opened a new project in the area of accommodation, Casas da Quinta – Wine House Experiences. Casas da Quinta – Wine House Experiences.
The 1835 house was remodeled and renewed, respecting the history and surrounding territory, but giving it comfort and modernity for those who choose according to certain requirements and quality.
The house has 4 suites inside the House and an exterior suite with the signature of the renowned interior designer Paulo Lobo. You can enjoy it on an exclusive basis or not, according to your preference.
